Stockard Channing is an American stage, film and television actress with an estimated net worth of $5 million. She was born Susan Antonia Williams Stockard on February 13, 1944 in New York City, New York, USA. She graduated from Radcliffe College with a major in history and literature in 1965.

Channing began her professional acting career in experimental Theater Company of Boston and performed in their Off-Broadway 1969 production of the Elaine May play Adaptation/Next. After several performances, including Arsenic and Old Lace, Play Strindberg, and No Hard Feelings, she returned to New York, where she made her Broadway debut in Two Gentleman of Verona – The Musical in 1971. She has been nominated for seven Tony awards for her many Broadway performances, winning one.

Stockard had a very successful career in the theater as well as in film and television. She was a regular on Sesame Street for several years before she made her big screen debut in The Hospital. She is widely recognized for her portrayal of First Lady Abbey Bartlett on the NBC television series The West Wing, as Betty Rizzo in the film Grease, and as Ouisa Kittredge in the play Six Degrees of Separation and its later film version. Other works in television and film included The Girl Most Likely To..., Out of Practice, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Newmar, and The First Wives Club.
