Scott Speed began his driving career at the age of 14 when he started in the karting circuit. He won the SKUSA Super Pro Title, 2 IKF Grand Nationals , and 3 IKF regional titles.

In 2002, he got the Rock Island GP in 125cc Shifter Karts. Then, he shifted to Formula series in 2001, as Speed competed in the US Formula Russell wherein he became a champion.

Speed received two championship titles in 2004 during the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup and German Formula Renault.

He became part of the Red Bull Racing as a test driver in 2005. As the team announced the creation of Scuderia Toro Rosso along with Vitantonio Liuzzi as its drivers for the 2006-2007 season.

During the Daytona 500, he won the Rookie of the Race. Then in 2013, he grabbed the gold medal in the X Games that was held at Foz do Iguaçu.
