Kendrick Lamar is a songwriter, singer and rapper who has an estimated net worth of $20 million in 2015. Lamar who is also known in full names as Kendrick Lamar Duckworth was born in Compton, California. He took up rapping in his elementary school days and was inspired by rap royalties like Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur. While in high school, he released his first mixtape which drew the attention of some local record labels. In early 2000s, he signed his first music deal with Top Dawg Entertainment and later released a second mixtape.

He got much recognition in 2008 and 2009 where he featured in Jay Rock’s music video “All My Life (in the Ghetto)” and later released his third mixtape, C4. The mixtape, which came after he had signed with Lil Wayne, was themed around Carter III. From this time onwards, he switched from K. Dot to his actual name and formed a super group called Black Hippy. He then made several tours in 2010 and 2011 before launching Section.80, his first independent album. Following the positive reviews and a major signing to Interscope Records he released the successful "good kid, m.A.A.d city" studio album in October 2012 that debut at number two.
