Trevor Rees-Jones is an American attorney, billionaire businessman and philanthropist from Texas who has an estimated net worth of $3.8 billion. He grew up in University Park and went to Highland Park High School. He then attended Dartmouth College while he earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. His career started as a bankruptcy lawyer in Dallas and later joined Thompson & Knight while practicing oil and gas reorganization law.

After working as an attorney in Dallas, Rees-Jones began investing in oil and gas. In 1994, Chief Oil and Gas was founded. Until today, he sits as the Chairman of the company, which has been active in the Barnett Shale, a geological formation located in the Bend Arch–Fort Worth Basin.

Trevor Rees-Jones is known for his philanthropic works. Together with his wife, they formed The Rees-Jones Foundation. It offers funding and support for the programs of non-profit organizations, which are aimed to enhance and improve the quality of life of the residents in North Texas. Among its major recipients are the Boy Scouts of America's Circle Ten Council, the Dallas Arboretum, the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science and the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center. In 2008 and 2010, the foundation has given more than $40 million in grants.
