Best recognized as one of the founders of Intel and Fairchild Semiconductor, Robert Noyce is a deceased American businessman with an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion in 2012.

Together with Jack Kilby, Robert Noyce is recognized to be the inventor of microchip or  integrated circuit which fueled the development of personal computers. Furthermore, he gave name to Silicon Valley.

After his graduation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Robert Noyce started working at Philco Corporation as a researcher. Three years later, he left the company to join Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory.

Together with his affiliates, they founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957. After leaving the company in 1968, they founded Intel. The incredible success of Intel is owed to the magnificent trio of Andrew Grove being the management scientist, Gordon Moore the technology virtuoso,  and Robert Noyce the visionary.

Robert Noyce was born on December 12, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa. He remarried twice. His first marriage was with Elizabeth "Betty" Bottomley. Together they had four children, William, Pendred, Priscilla, and Margaret. Their relationship ended in divorce and his former wife, got half of their assets. His second marriage was to Ann Schmeltz Bowers. Currently, Ann Schmeltz Bowers sits as the founding trustee and Chairman of the Board of Noyce Foundation.
