American real estate mogul, attorney, and the owner of the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Clippers, Donald T. Sterling, has an estimated net worth of $3.1 billion as of April 2016, according to Forbes. The real estate mogul owns 10,000 apartment units in Los Angeles and Orange Counties as well as the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel and a large art-deco office building on Wilshire Blvd. where he works.

He bought the NBA Los Angeles Clippers basketball team in 1981 for $12.5 million; Forbes now values the team at $305 million. David Geffen once offered to buy the team for $700 million but Sterling refused to sell. Sterling, who began his career as a lawyer, has seen his share of lawsuits in recent years. Former Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy sued over unpaid salary; that issue is in arbitration. Clippers former general manager Elgin Bailey sued Sterling and the Clippers for wrongful termination due to age discrimination, but in March 2011 a jury rejected all of Bailey's claims. He was born Donald Tokowitz (legally added Sterling as his last name as an adult) was born in 1933 in Chicago, Illinois.
