Charles Bronfman was born on June 27, 1931 in Montreal, Canada. After attending Selwyn House School, he went to study at McGill University. He is currently married to Rita Bronfman with whom he has two children, Stephen and Ellen.

From 1997 through 2002, he worked for Koor Industries Ltd. as the Chairman of the Board. Koor Industries Ltd. is considered as one of the largest investment holding companies. He also serves as one of the chairmen of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada.

He previously served as one of the Chairmen of Seagram Company Ltd. After the death of their father, Sam, in 1971, Edgar Bronfman Sr. and Charles Bronfman, inherited Seagram Company Ltd.
