Russian businessman Alexander Yevgenievich Lebedev has an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion as of March 2013 according to Forbes.

Considered as one of the most popular Russian oligarchs, Alexander Lebedev was named by Forbes as one of the wealthiest persons in Russia. He is a part owner of Novaya Gazeta,   a Russian newspaper. Together with his son Evgeny Lebedev, Alexander Lebedev currently owns four major newspapers in Russia which include The Independent,  Independent on Sunday and the London Evening Standard.

After moving out of the Russian intelligence community, Alexander Lebedev formed his first company Russian Investment-Finance Company. When the company purchased National Reserve Bank, a struggling small Russian bank that time, it began growing rapidly. And later on, it became one of the largest banks in Russia. When the 1988 Russian financial crisis occurred, Russian Investment-Finance Company and Alfa Bank were the only two out of 10 large banks in Russia to have survived.

Alexander Lebedev was born on December 16, 1959 in Moscow, Russia. He was previously married to Natalia Vladimirovna Sokolova. He has two children named Nikita and Evgeny.
