Sol Kerzner is a South African accountant and business magnate who has an estimated net worth of $400 million. He was born Solomon Kerzner on August 23, 1935 in Troyeville, Johannesburg, and graduated as a Chartered Accountant at the University of Witwatersrand, more commonly known as Wits University. He worked for one of the largest accountancy firms in Durban, where he was named a junior partner at the age of 25. He then took over in running the group and has created the most successful hotel group in South Africa, Sun International.

Mr. Kerzner has earned much of his estimated net worth of $400 million as the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kerzner International, as well as his more than 45 years in the resort industry. He has founded both of the largest hotel groups in the country, and has been responsible for the development of tourism industries in South Africa, Mauritius, The Maldives, Dubai and The Bahamas.

Sol Kerzner first bought the Astra Hotel in Durban, which became a success. He then went on to build the first five star graded hotel in South Africa located in a village north of Durban. It opened in December 1964 and was named the Beverly Hills Hotel.
