Brian Cashman is an American Major League Baseball (MLB) executive who has an estimated net worth of $9 million and an annual salary of $3 million. He earned his net worth as the General Manager and Senior Vice President of the New York Yankees since 1998. Born Brian McGuire Cashman on July 3, 1967 in Rockville Center, New York, he was raised in Washingtonville, New York to an Irish Catholic family. The family moved to Lexington, Kentucky where he attended Lexington Catholic High School before moving to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He graduated from Georgetown Preparatory School in 1985. He then attended The Catholic University of America where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1989. He was a four-year starter at second base and the leadoff hitter for the Cardinals’ baseball team while setting a school record of most hits in a season.

In 1986, Cashman started as an intern with the New York Yankees organization. He was named Senior Vice-President and General Manager in February 1988, succeeding Bob Watson. The Yankees then won six American League and four World Series championships. He was named to Crain’s New York Business 40 under 40 list for 1999. He considered leaving the team in 2005 due to some conflicts but agreed to a new contract following the conclusion of the 2005 season. The deal gave him more authority in personnel decision and paid him an average of $1.3 million for the next three years.

Brian Cashman signed a new three-year deal on September 30, 2008 but the Yankees failed to make the playoffs. He signed CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and Mark Teixeira to long-term free agent contracts. They played a big role for the team and they won the 2009 World Series. He was selected as MLB Executive of the Year for 2009 by the Boston Chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Cashman signed another three-year deal in November 2011. He was also involved in the developing of the video game MLB Front Office Manager.
