Indian film actress Preity Zinta has an estimated net worth of $30 million. She was born on January 31, 1975 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. She attended St. Bede’s College in Shimla where she earned an Honors English degree. She later took a graduate program in psychology and earned a postgraduate degree in criminal psychology.

Zinta then took up modelling, shooting her first-ever television commercial for Perks chocolate.  This led to her meeting with a director at a friend’s birthday party in 1996. She was persuaded to audition for a spot, for which she was selected. She later appeared in several catalogues and commercials, such as one for Liril soap.

Zinta has appeared in Hindi Bollywood films, as well as Telugu, Punjabi and English language films. She had her acting debut in Dil Se.. in 1998 and after a year, she had a role in Soldier. With her performances, she earned a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She was then recognized for her role as a single teen mother in Kya Kehna. Her on screen persona helped influence a change in the concept of the Hindi film heroine.

In 2003, Zinta was the recipient of the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in the drama Kal Ho Naa Ho. Right after, she had the female lead role in two consecutive annual top-grossing films in India. Her biggest commercial success was in the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya in 2003 and she was critically acclaimed in the star-crossed romance Veer-Zaara (2004).

Zinta also had an outstanding performance as independent, modern Indian women in Salaam Namaste (2005) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006). These two films are top-grossing productions in the overseas markets. She had her first international film role in the Canadian film Heaven or Earth, for which she received the Silver Hugo Award for Best Actress at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival.
