Meghan Markle seemed to make a subtle statement recently when she was spotted without her wedding ring on numerous occasions, or at least that’s what fans think as divorce rumors between her and Prince Harry rage on.
Meghan Markle was spotted without her engagement ring while accompanying Prince Harry at the Invictus Games. The absence of the ring was first noticed when the Duchess of Sussex and Harry, aged 38, attended the Family & Friends party on Tuesday, September 12.
The ring continued to be missing when the couple made an appearance at the wheelchair basketball tournament the following day.
However, there's a perfectly sensible explanation for this. As reported by Us Weekly and attributed to a source, Meghan, 42, wasn't wearing her wedding ring because it's presently being serviced due to a loose setting.
It's understandable that Meghan would want to take care of her ring, giving its value, both financially and sentimentally. The piece is said to have a value of $150,000 and holds significant sentimental value for the couple.
The centerpiece is a three-carat, cushion-cut diamond that Harry obtained from Botswana, a place of significance where they had their third date.
On either side of the central stone, there are two smaller round-cut diamonds, each approximately one carat in size. Moreover, these precious gems were borrowed from Princess Diana's private jewelry collection, as Harry elucidated during their engagement interview with the BBC.
He noted that this decision was taken to symbolize her presence and to be a part of their shared journey.
“The ring is yellow gold, because that’s [Meghan’s] favorite, and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana, and the little diamonds on either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this — on this crazy journey together,” he explained.
Even though there seems to be a believable reason why Meghan ditched her ring while seen recently with Harry, it hasn’t helped the divorce rumors that have been following the couple for months.
In August, reports surfaced that the royal couple was taking some time apart to reflect on their relationship. This came after previous reports, months earlier, had suggested that they had hired divorce lawyers.
A potential divorce between Meghan and Harry has the potential to be intricate, especially considering reports indicating that the couple did not establish a prenuptial agreement before their 2018 wedding.
Currently, they share a combined net worth of $60 million, a figure that has seen significant growth in recent years due to lucrative media deals through their production company with Spotify and Netflix.
