Unfortunately, as much as we may love certain A-list couples together, not all relationships are meant to last and a lot of them break up after spending some time together as a couple.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are both A-list actors that have been in Hollywood for quite some time. The two of them originally got together back in 2005 when Brad was in the middle of a divorce with Friends star Jennifer Aniston. The two of them were in the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith together and a lot of rumors swirled about the two of them getting cozy on set while Brad was going through his divorce.

The two of them got married in 2014 after being spotted together in candids for the first time nine years prior. Together, they have six children - three of whom were adopted while the other three are their biological children. In 2016, after only two years of marriage, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after over a decade together.

Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder proved that they didn't just have chemistry on-screen. The two of them played lovers in The Vampire Diaries, but they also had a super cute relationship off the small screen, too! The two of them announced their relationship back in 2011 and it was a dream come true for everyone that loved Damon and Elena together on TVD.

Unfortunately, their love story was simply not meant to be and they announced that they had decided to go their separate ways in 2013. Many sources cited that Nina wasn't ready to settle down yet, which may have been a factor, especially considering the fact that Ian got married in 2015 to Nikki Reed and they welcomed their first child into the world in 2017.

Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth

While filming the total tearjerker The Last Song, stars Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth apparently had so much chemistry on-screen that they decided to start dating in real life, too. The two of them ended up getting engaged in 2012 before they called it off in 2013.

But, for people that loved them together, their 2013 breakup wasn't the end of the line. In 2016, the two of them were spotted together again and it gave hope to everyone that had been obsessed with their relationship when they first got together. They were married in December of 2018 and we thought this time was for real! Unfortunately, the two of them closed off the decade and announced their divorce in August 2019.

Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore

When Ashton Kutcher started dating actress Demi Moore back in 2003, the two of them had tabloids everywhere scrambling to write articles. Their relationship was big news, especially due to the fact that they had a 15-year age gap! But, the two of them proved that age is nothing but a number by making their love last and they got married in 2005.

Unfortunately for everyone that was rooting for these two, things didn't work out for these A-list stars. In 2011, the two of them announced that they were separated and Kutcher filed for divorce in 2012. Not long after, Kutcher started dating his former That '70s Show star Mila Kunis and the two of them got married in 2015, so his decade wasn't all bad.

Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris

It's safe to say that Taylor Swift has had more than her fair share of breakups. Even though her album Lover shows us that this relationship might finally be it for Taylor, we're still pretty bummed about the way some of her past relationships played out. For instance, the breakup she had from Calvin Harris in 2016.

The two of them started dating in 2015, but their relationship unfortunately didn't last long as the two of them announced that they had broken up a little over a year after they got together. While they were together, Taylor used the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg to help Harris write the song This Is What You Came For, a name that Taylor put on one of the tombstones in her Look What You Made Me Do video. That's definitely one way to announce you're over your ex!

Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick

We can't lie, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick's breakup is one that didn't really surprise us. Despite the fact that these two were off-and-on for quite some time and the highs and lows of their relationship was put on full display on Kourtney's family's reality TV shows, we still had hopes for them.

Selena Gomez & The Weeknd

Surprisingly, the saddest breakup that Selena Gomez went through during the 2010s wasn't from Justin Bieber. That off-and-on relationship was just exhausting by the time they finally called it quits.

But, Selena's short relationship and subsequent breakup from The Weeknd was one that we're still not over. The two of them only dated for a few months, but apparently their relationship was intense. The Weeknd's album My Dear Melancholy has several songs that reference Selena, including the heartbreaking hit Call Out My Name.

Pete Davidson & Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's relationship may not have been the longest-lasting one in the 2010s, but it was definitely one of the saddest breakups. The two of them got together in May of 2018 and they announced that they were engaged only a month later in June.

The two of them got multiple tattoos that either matched or were references to one another and it seemed like they were in love, no matter how fast their relationship was moving. But, after they announced their breakup in October 2018 and Ariana referenced him in Thank U, Next, it became obvious that things were really over.

Courteney Cox & David Arquette

Courteney Cox and David Arquette are another couple that proved that being on set can be a good time to find love. The two of them appeared together in the Scream movies in the 1990s and got married in 1999. The two of them had a daughter named CoCo and named Courteney's Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston the godmother in 2004.

Unfortunately, in 2010, the two of them announced that their marriage just wasn't working and they had made the tough decision to get a divorce. Their divorce was finalized in 2013 and it broke all of our hearts.

Vanessa Hudgens & Zac Efron

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron first met when they appeared in the starring roles in Disney's High School Musical series. The two of them played a pair of high school students who fell for each other despite having very different social lives. Obviously their on-screen chemistry was so good that they decided to take things to the real world, too.

Unfortunately, after dating from 2005 through 2010, the two of them broke up. The two of them announced their breakup at the start of the decade, but have only had nice things to say about each other since then, so obviously there was no bad blood between these HSM stars.
