She was just 17 when her first single, Driver’s License hit the airwaves and Olivia Rodrigo has been a star ever since. With a net worth of $5 million, the Disney Bizaardvark actress has skyrocketed to fame and she’s continuing to find success at every turn.

Even at six years old, the superstar was taking acting and voice lessons and began guitar lessons at 12. Early commercials for brands like Old Navy led to her first big breaks and today, many are comparing Rodrigo to a young Taylor Swift because she writes her own songs based on her life and fans can relate.

How does the young star earn and spend her money? She has a long way to go, but for now, the decisions she’s made are paying off.

Television Star

According to Celebrity Net Worth, in 2016, Rodrigo landed a role on Disney’s Bizaardvark series, alongside social media star Jake Paul and appeared as a main character from 2016 to 2019. Already a Disney star, Rodrigo then took a role in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and even wrote and performed “Just for a Moment” and “All I Want” for the soundtrack.

In March of 2022, the documentary about her debut album Sour released on Disney +, following the star through the writing process, arrangements of her songs and footage from the making of her album.

Singing Career

In late 2020, the debut artist surprised industry veterans when she was able to negotiate a deal with Interscope/Geffen Records to own the masters of her music from day one. By Jan. of 2021, she released her first single, “Drivers License” and a star was born.

Rodrigo is known for hits like “Déjà Vu”, “Happier” and “Good 4 U”. She was the first artist in history who had her first two releases hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She said her work was inspired by singer-songwriters like Alanis Morrissette, Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves and won the 2021 People’s Choice Awards Album of the Year, and a 2022 Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Delayed due to the pandemic, Rodrigo will officially embark on her first tour in April of 2022, with 47 dates across the U.S. and Europe.

A Fan of Therapy

The singer/songwriter has been open and vocal about therapy sessions and how much it has helped her. According to The Things, she began therapy at 16 and it resulted in life-changing and eye-opening moments for the star. Of course, therapy can get pretty pricy, so some of her $5 million must be going toward a healthier, firm foundation for the teen.

Real Estate

Can you imagine purchasing your first property before you graduate high school? Rodrigo can because she’s said she purchased her first “big girl apartment” a few months ago. However, she’s so close to parents, Sophie and Ronald, Rodrigo admits she often stays at the family home, or her parents stay with her. Technically, she lives alone, but she’s got some close room mates keeping her company through the transition.

Skincare is Important

In a recent interview with Vogue the teen shared with fans what her skincare routine looks like. While fans just see glowing, perfect skin, Rodrigo isn’t afraid to share the ups and downs of teen breakouts. She washes her face with Epionce Milky Lotion Cleanser and then uses The Ordinary serum, a gua sha and finishes off with a lip scrub and Burt’s Bees Chapstick. While it’s fairly simple, most skin care products cost a pretty penny.

Fashion and Style

Fans know Rodrigo has fashion sense, based on the various styles we’ve seen her in over the past year. She’s always going for a unique and authentic look and that special piece can get expensive. For example, attending her first-ever Grammy Awards, Rodrigo wore a black Vivienne Westwood dress with pink beading along the front and back. The custom number featured an off-the-shoulder, corset bodice and it certainly turned heads.

Social Media Influencer

Though she probably didn’t set out to be an influencer, the job comes with the territory in some respects. Rodrigo has approximately 12 million followers on Instagram, 1.1. million followers on Twitter, 7.9 million followers on TikTok and 4.6 million subscribers to her YouTube channel. That many followers equal extra cash in her bank account.

A Special Pen Pal

While this one might not cost Rodrigo a ton of cash, it does show that the star hasn’t lost her touch with showing kindness and embracing those that support her. For the cost of a stamp, Rodrigo regularly writes hand-written letters to her great-grandmother in Wisconsin. According to TV Over Mind, Rodrigo and her great-grandmother have done this for years and it gives each something to look forward to – a letter in the mail.
