Vanna White has become as synonymous with Wheel of Fortune as Pat Sajak and has been with the televised game show for almost the same amount of time. That’s why the Internet is shocked to learn that not only has she not received a pay raise for nearly two decades, but she’s making less than half of her male counterpart’s salary.

According to a new report by TMZ, Vanna has hired a lawyer to help her secure at least “50%” of what Pat Sajak was making before he announced his retirement earlier this month.

The publication points out that Vanna is considered a co-host on Wheel of Fortune. When Vanna and Pat enter the stage for each episode, they’re introduced as equals, with the announcer saying, “"Here are the stars of our show, Pat Sajak and Vanna White."

However, while Pat has been making $15 million per year in recent seasons, Vanna’s salary is $3 million. Moreover, she claims she hasn’t seen an increase in 18 years.

Now, her attorney Bryan Freedman is demanding that Vanna receive at least half of Pat’s current salary, which would be $7.5 million per year.

"After 41 years as a model employee and more the face of that show than him [Pat], asking for 50% of what he makes seems like a no-brainer,” a source told TMZ.

"She feels like it's a statement for all women,” another source said.

Sony, which produces and owns the rights to Wheel of Fortune, is negotiating with Vanna, but apparently isn’t easily giving into her demands.

However, if Sony doesn’t give Vanna a raise that she feels is “equitable,” the television host is reportedly ready to walk away from the show altogether.

Wheel of Fortune may not be able to rebound if both of its long-time hosts leave at the same time. Earlier this month, Pat announced he was retiring after 40 years with the show.

"Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last," Pat wrote via Twitter. "It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months,” he continued. “Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)"

It's been confirmed he’ll stay on as a consultant on the show for the next three years. Ryan Seacrest has been announced as his replacement.
