Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is an American musician, songwriter, and entertainer who has a net worth of $420 million. She rose to fame as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, in the late 1990s. Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z is her husband, and they have three children together.

Beyoncé has been in the entertainment industry since she was eight years old. She was raised Catholic and enrolled in dance classes at St. Mary's Montessori School in Houston. Darlette Johnson, a dance teacher, discovered her singing talent when she started humming a song and finished it, able to reach the high-pitched notes. After winning a school talent show at the age of seven, singing John Lennon's "Imagine" to beat 15/16-year-olds, Beyoncé's interest in music and performing intensified. Beyoncé enrolled in Parker Elementary School, a music magnet school in Houston, in the fall of 1990, where she would sing in the school's choir. She also went to Alief Elsik High School and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. For two years, Beyoncé sang in the choir at St. John's United Methodist Church as a soloist.

When Beyoncé and her childhood friend Kelly Rowland were eight years old, they met LaTavia Roberson at an audition for an all-girl entertainment group. They formed a group named Girl's Tyme with three other girls and appeared on the Houston talent show circuit, rapping and dancing. The Knowles family reunited in 1996, and the girls started recording their debut album under a Sony Music deal. Shortly after, the group was signed to Columbia Records.

Beyoncé's albums with Destiny's Child have sold over 60 million copies worldwide, and her solo projects have been equally successful. Since its release in 2002, the singer's debut solo album "Dangerously In Love" has sold 11 million copies worldwide, spawning hits such as "Crazy In Love" (featuring Jay-Z), "Baby Boy" (featuring Sean Paul), "Me, Myself, and I," "Naughty Girl," and "The Closer I Get to You" (with Luther Vandross).

Beyoncé attracted international attention in 2013 when she released her self-titled visual album, which included songs such as "***Flawless," "XO," "Drunk In Love" (featuring Jay-Z), "Partition," and "Pretty Hurts." Within the first week of the album's release, she smashed iTunes records. The dancer and songstress followed up to her self-titled album, 2016’s Lemonade, which was the highest-selling album of that year with 2.5 million copies sold. She partnered with Disney on The Lion King: The Gift in 2019 and the accompanying visual album "Black Is King" in 2020; no final sales or streaming figures have been released. "Everything Is Love", Beyoncé and Jay-Z's collaborative album with The Carters, was certified Gold. Beyoncé's earnings from album sales were projected to be around $13 million in 2019.

Beyoncé has performed as a solo artist eight times, grossing millions of dollars each time. From April to October 2016, the Creation World Tour grossed $256 million. Despite having the fewest shows, it was one of the most profitable tours of the year. From June to September 2014, her On the Run tour with Jay-Z grossed $109.7 million, and their On the Run II tour in 2018 grossed over $253 million. Beyoncé officially made $8 million as the first Black woman to headline the Coachella Music Festival.  To date, she has grossed over $3 billion at the global box office. Beyoncé released her epic Homecoming concert film on Netflix in April 2019. Bey's contract with the streaming giant was confirmed to be for three projects and $60 million, according to Variety. Beyonce revealed a new collaboration with Adidas to relaunch her activewear line Ivy Park and it sells out every time in record time.
