In their first podcast on Spotify, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say they hope it brings "warmth, a smile and something to think about" to listeners at the end of a dreadful year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started the podcast by thanking "health care workers and front care workers for their sacrifices," and sharing a greeting from Elton John, who is in quarantine with his family.

Matt Haig, author of "Notes on a Nervous Planet," a book admired by the couple, spoke about his own struggles during lockdown. Other guests included Tyler Perry, Stacey Abrams, José Andrés, Brené Brown, Deepak Chopra, James Cordon, Elton John, and Naomi Osaka. Perry spoke about feeding 5,000 families for Thanksgiving but regretted he couldn’t help more.

Meghan shared a personal message, saying, "From us, I'll say no matter what life throws at you guys, trust us when we say, love wins," while Harry added, "Love always wins. As we all know, it's been a year." The couple wanted the podcast "to honor the compassion and kindness that has helped so many people get through it."

Harry called 2020 "a year we could have never imagined," and talked about the lessons he’s learned in the past year, saying, "As we come to the end of this year and look to the future, let's hold onto the lessons we've learned about how important it is to take care of one another, and how meaningful our connections are, even when they're physically impossible."

The couple's one-year-old son, Archie, made an appearance at the end of the podcast when his mom asked him, "Archie, is it fun?" He adorably answered, "Fun. Happy New Year" The podcast ended with the song "This Little Light of MIne," which was played at the end of their wedding.

The couple will release a series of podcasts in 2021. Earlier this month, Spotify announced they had signed a multi-project deal with Archewell Audio, the couple's podcast production company.
