According to Vulture, Mindy Kaling moved to Los Angeles from the East Coast after landing The Office. Kaling's celebrity grew after The Office's success and she was able to afford multiple properties. The NY Post shared that she once lived in a $2.3 million apartment in downtown Manhattan before selling it in early 2023. The loft had high ceilings, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and had Carrara marble in the kitchen, according to Dirt.

Mindy Kaling's empire grew and in March 2020, The Los Angeles Times showed off Kaling's new West Coast diggs, a beachfront home in Malibu. Paying $9.95 million for the Broad Beach bungalow, Kaling is now home sweet home with seven bedrooms, a pool, and 5,824 square feet of space.

An Eclectic Art Collector

Mindy Kaling is known for her colorful and playful sense of style. Her fashion sense was examined thoroughly in The Mindy Project, which included her apartment's decor. In real life, Kaling puts as much effort into her eclectic art collection and her home's theme as she does her wardrobe.

The Zoe Report raved about Kaling's art collection, which she happily shares with her followers on social media. One of Kaling's favorite pieces of art is a water painting by Julia S. Powell. With shades of blues and greens, Powell's works range anywhere from $500 to $14,000, according to her website. Other works of art created by Cécile Davidovici and Bridgette Thornton can also be found on her walls, creating colorful stories and beautiful work for her family. While price ranges for Davidovici have to be inquired, Thornton's artwork ranges from $250 to $10,000. Kaling's art collection is both sophisticated and modern.

Mindy Has Some Lucky Kiddos

US Weekly noted that Kaling's first child, Katherine, was born in 2017. Just three years later, Kaling had a son named Spencer. Kaling is an open book but she keeps the lives of her kids private. However, on social media, Kaling will show the backs of her kids' heads or their outfits. People shared that Kaling gifted her kids a unique and sought-after playground in her backyard that cost a whopping $22,000. Between the swings and cute designs painted all over it, the Kaling kids' have a backyard that kids can only dream of.

In 2020, Kaling was seen shopping by the Daily Mail for her kids at luxury clothing stores in Los Angeles. Part of giving her kids a safe and happy upbringing is making sure they have the utmost care, and outside of designer clothes and playgrounds, Kaling spends her money on a celebrity nanny and two assistants. She told People, "I wouldn't be able to keep my full-time professional career and have two children under the age of three without the incredibly strong relationship I have with my nanny." An Avid Investor

In 2023, Kaling talked about her skin issues on Instagram and tried a new skincare line called Lion Pose. She loved the products so much that she invested in the company. Fashion United shared that the dermatologists behind the brand were able to raise $3 million in investments, which included Kaling. The success of the brand and financial backing from celebrities like Kaling was able to get Lion Pose launched in Sephora.

Crunchbase took a look at Kaling's other investments, which include brands like Olipop and Impossible Foods. Both brands have raised millions of dollars from investors to get their products off the ground running, largely in part to Kaling and other investors.

Kaling Loves A Vacay

Among the TV shows, feature films, book deals, and raising two kids, Kaling deserves a vacation. Kaling has shown off some of her vacations on social media, which have included staying ocean-side in Hawaii, sipping coffee around France, and touring around India.

Funny enough, Kaling told The Today Show (via She Knows) how hard it is vacationing with kids after flying to the East Coast from Los Angeles. The comedian joked, "I’m not doing this again. My son will not see outside of the greater Los Angeles area for about three more years."

A Fashionista Through And Through

It’s no surprise that Kaling likes shopping. Her love of bright colors, fun prints, and athleticwear shines bright on her social media platforms.

In 2019, Kaling told Fashionista how much she adored shopping. Not only does the actress buy cute clothes she sees tagged on Instagram, one of her favorite high-end stores with amazing fashion designers is the original Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Kaling Has A Big Heart

With a $35 million net worth, Kaling is also charitable. Boston Magazine shared that Kaling donated $1,000 to 40 different charities, totaling $40,000. As stated on her Twitter, Kaling shared that she felt so lucky to be 40 and to live such a fulfilling life with her daughter that she wanted to give back to others through various charities. She did something similar on her 36th birthday, where she tweeted her favorite charitable organizations and asked her followers for some suggestions so she could continue donating.
