Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa came to this world in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 1, 1979. He is the son of a photographer, Coni (Lemke) and a painter, Joseph Momoa. His mother came from Iowa and is of German ancestry, and his father is of Hawaiian descent. His mother raised him at Norwalk, Iowa.

Joseph moved to Hawaii after high school. He landed a role in Baywatch out of thousands of hopefuls. He spent the next two years traveling the globe afterward. Momoa moved to Los Angeles in 2001 to continue acting. After the North Shore's short-lived series, he became "Ronon Dex." It was in the T.V. series Stargate: Atlantis (2004).

In 2010, he appeared in the H.B.O. Series Game of Thrones as Dothraki King, "Khal Drogo." Afterward, he started shooting in Bulgaria. Here, they cast him as the famous Robert E. Howard character.

Jason expanded his career from actor to filmmaker. He did this by creating the production company "Pride of Gypsies." Here, he directed some short films and worked on building his feature film debut "Road to Paloma." The name of the series is Brown Bag Diaries: Ridin' the Blinds in B Minor. Jason now resides with actress Lisa Bonet. He has two kids with her: Lola and Nakoa-Wolf.
