Amid reports that Kanye West is preparing for a career comeback, it’s now being said that the rapper is close to dropping a new solo album.
Insiders linked to the production informed TMZ that Kanye is currently in a " truly great headspace." The sources claim he’s been exceptionally productive, churning out nearly 10 tracks in the span of just this week.
Kanye may be working on a collaborative project, too. Ty Dolla $ign, who often collaborates with Ye, has reportedly been present in the studio. This raises the possibility of not only a solo project but also a potential joint album between the two artists.
Moreover, Ye’s new music will apparently have an “old Kanye” sound, with fewer political theatrics compared to some of his recent ventures. This may be to balance out the rapper’s controversial reputation, especially recently, in light of antisemitic comments he made last year.
It has been over two years since Ye dropped a new project, with his last official album being "Donda" in 2021. He did, however, release “Donda 2” in February 2022, an unfinished demo album that was launched exclusively on the STEM player as Kanye wanted to boycott streaming services.
It remains unclear if future music from the artist will be available only on the STEM (which Kanye’s Yeezy brand is financially invested in) or if it’ll be available on all traditional platforms.
As per TMZ, there is no immediate release date set for Ye's upcoming tracks. He’s apparently intentionally taking his time with the album to ensure that it lives up to fan expectations. It’s been rumored for months that Kanye is working on new music and fashion in hopes of relaunching his career in wake of the backlash he faced last year (including losing his billion-dollar Yeezy and Adidas collaboration).
“Kanye and Bianca are in the honeymoon phase, they are always all over each other and showing affection,” a source told Us Weekly in August. “They are having a blast traveling right now and Kanye has been very inspired. He says he’s designing, writing music and being inspired.”
“Bianca has been helping Kanye with some designs, and they both think their fashions are going to be culture shifting,” they went on. “Kanye feels he’s on the precipice of a big comeback.”
Kanye lost his billionaire status last year after Adidas pulled the plug on their business deal, with her net worth dropping to a reported $500 million. So, the rapper may be hoping to boost his personal fortune with the success of a new album, especially when considering the many lawsuits he's currently facing.
