After getting married in May 2022, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker made it clear that they wanted to expand their blended family. Kardashian already has three children with her former boyfriend of 10 years, Scott Disick, and Barker has two children with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, along with a stepdaughter from Moakler's former relationship – whom he calls his own. Together, they’re a modern day Brady bunch, with three boys and three girls.

With Kardashian and Barker in their 40s, the couple alluded to their roadblocks to starting a family on the Hulu show The Kardashians. Kardashian once said that in a “dream world,” she’d love to have two more kids, and never really felt done with adding to her family. Her mom Kris Jenner shared she already had 11 grandchildren, and was excited by the possibility of more. Happily, in the summer of 2023, Kardashian made a public announcement that she and Barker were finally expecting. With a baby in tow, this is a new era for the Kardashian and Barker squad.

The Couple Went Through IVF To Try For A Baby

In the premiere of The Kardashians' third season, Kardashian shared that she and Barker had been undergoing IVF, after attempts to get pregnant naturally didn’t work as expected. However, when her body didn’t respond to the IVF treatment, the couple decided to discontinue the treatments for good, as shared by Cosmopolitan. "We are officially done with IVF [in vitro fertilization],” Kardashian explained. “We would love a baby more than anything, but I really believe in what God has in store for us. If that’s a baby, I believe it will happen.”

During the process, Kardashian also explained that she had frozen seven eggs years ago – adding that most of the eggs didn’t “survive.” The Lemme founder shared (via People), “When I was 38 or 39, everyone was like pushing me to do that. Most of mine didn’t survive the thaw because eggs are one cell, and none of them made it into an embryo ... The freezing of eggs isn’t guaranteed. It’s a misunderstanding, people do it thinking it's a safety net, and it's not."

Without healthy eggs and due to how grueling IVF can be, Kardashian and Barker decided that they were done trying, and that if it was meant to be, it was meant to be. And luckily for them, a miracle happened.

A Surprise Announcement

In June 2023, Kardashian and Barker shocked the world when she showed up at his Blink 182 concert with a sign that said “Travis, I’m pregnant.” The sign was a callback to Blink 182’s music video for “All the Small Things,” during which a female fan famously did the same thing. It was a playful way to announce to the world that the two were able to have the baby they so badly wanted.

Kardashian then shared the video of her announcement on Instagram, which was followed by sweet photos of her baby bump and Barker. Shortly after, the couple hosted a gender reveal party for their friends and family. With Kardashian on Barker’s lap at his drum set, it was revealed the two are having a baby boy.

Although their due date hasn’t been publicly disclosed, sources assume it’s between October and December, based on their pregnancy timeline.

A Baby Scare

In September 2023, it was speculated that Kardashian had given birth because Barker left the Blink-182 tour quickly due to an "urgent family matter," according to Women's Health. Rumors quickly started circulating – until Kardashian shared a pregnancy update on Instagram. Rather than giving birth, Kardashian had a life-saving surgery for her baby. "Will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life," she wrote.

The mom of three expressed how easy her previous pregnancies were and how shocking it was to be rushed to the hospital for "urgent fetal surgery." She finished the post by sharing how grateful she was for her family and the medical staff, and that she has "a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant."

Kardashian is said to be healing and has since continued sharing her day-to-day on social media again. With her due date allegedly approaching (as of this article’s publishing), the pop culture world is waiting and watching for the first Kardashian-Barker to arrive. But will this baby be their last? Knowing that Kardashian would love two more kids, anything is possible for this loved-up couple.
